Camden Youth Action Groups
What is the Project?
The Camden Youth Action Groups is a programme facilitated by Fitzrovia Youth in Action and run in partnership with a number of youth agencies across Camden. The programme is divided in to two 6 month projects.
The first project consists of 6 groups each meeting once a fortnight and all working towards their own event in the summer holidays. These event days will incorporate the 10th anniversary of the Camden Unity Cup as well as a range of fun activities planned and run by the young people themselves.
The second 6 month project runs between October 2009 and March 2010 and will give young people the chance to work on their own media projects. Again we will be working in partnerships across Camden.
What is the need for the project?
The need for this project is to engage with targeted young people to increase their life chances.
When did the project start?
The first half of the programme with groups planning an event in the summer and incorporating the Camden Unity Cut started in March 2009 and is running until September 2009.
The second 6 month project runs between October 2009 and March 2010
What are the benefits of the project?
The young people involved with the project will benefit from learning new skills, gaining accreditation in the form of AQA’s, meeting and working with other young people and going on trips and residentials. In the first project they will get experience of event management and have a chance to have make decisions about an event in their local community. For the second project they will get experience of media work and what it takes to make a film and/or music track.
Who is the project open to?
