Football Sessions
What is the Project?
Weekly football training sessions providing opportunities for young people aged 8 to 18 from different ethnic communities to play together. There are specific sessions for girls. In addition, most teams have opportunities for competitive play and play in tournaments and leagues during the weekend. Most of the training sessions are held in the Warren football pitch in Whitfield Street, London W1. Outreach sessions are also held at local primary and secondary schools.
What is the need for the project?
Football plays an important role in our work to improve cohesion around the Warren. Through our football programme, we maintain a presence in the Warren six days a week and build relationships with most of the young people who use the facility. Most of the young people who spend time in the Warren are members of FYA or played football with us when they were younger.
The overall aim and need of the project is to provide football sessions for all age groups ranging from U10, U12, U14, U16, U18, and U19s and to provide football sessions for girls. Within these sessions we hope to incorporate workshops, residential and off site activities. These experiences will give young people the opportunity to explore avenues which will encourage and aid them into and within mainstream society
