On Road TV

What is the project?

On Road TV was launched in conjunction with issue 3 of On Road magazine. As we worked on issues of great importance to our youths, it became clear that we could also make videos which supplement articles in the magazine.

What is the need for the project?

In the same way we believe the magazine is necessary, so is the making of videos to get youths interested, motivated and more importantly heard. Many youths may not the greatest with their writing skills, so making video’s on issues which concern them is just as satisfying in getting themselves heard. It uses the same concept as making the magazine but has a different outlet in the shape of videos.

When asked, youths informed us that video projects may be more appealing to some youths as they are constantly watching videos and programmes on tv and the internet. Furthermore making videos requires enthusiasm more than writing skills, which means the media project can take on lots more youths regardless of their ability in school or college.

What are the benefits of the project?

  • Youth participants will learn how to operate professional camera equipment
  • Youth participants will learn how to operate video editing software
  • Youth participants will learn the fundamentals of making a video/documentary
  • Youth participants will gain skills in presenting, researching, and recording voiceovers
  • Youth participants have the advantage of having a media professional come in and work with them, giving them vital advice and help.

Who is the project open to?

The project is open to anyone between the ages of 13 and 21
