FYA Under 12’s end of season cup victory
Our under 12s football team won the trophy at an end of season round-robin tournament held in Regents Park on Saturday 19th March.
We entered an ‘A’ and a ‘B’ team who played against Pro-Touch Community U12’s and Independent Soccer School (ISS) U12’s. First our A-team drew 1-all against ISS and later on beat Pro-Touch 2-1. Our B-team did really well against Pro-Touch but two late goal keeping errors cost the team dearly and their spirited performance was undone as they lost 2-0. The B’s regained their composure and played the game of the tournament by drawing 0-0 against all odds against ISS who earlier demolished Pro-Touch 4-0. All the FYA A-team had to do to win the tournament was to beat the B’s, which seemed easier said than done. The B’s were still high on confidence after their draw ISS and gave the A’s a run for their money, so to speak. It looked the game would end in a draw when the B’s resistance finally crumbled. A late but deserved goal by the A’s broke the B’s hearts as the game ended 1-0 and made the A’s the deserved tournament winners. All the players were awarded with medals plus a winners’ trophy for the A-team. All teams played in excellent spirit and the players enjoyed the end of season with some great soccer on a sunny afternoon surrounded by young footballers doing what they do best and that is enjoying the Beautiful Game.
