Healthy Living Festival 2011

The West Euston Healthy Living Festival took place on April 16th 2011. The aim of the festival was to promote healthy living and improve community cohesion around the West Euston area.  The event was a huge success and brought together some 400 residents of all ages and backgrounds.

The highlight of the day were the dance performances on stage by children and young people from the West Euston Time Bank. Other popular activities included a healthy living quiz and a football tournament involving around 80 local young people with 8 teams battling it out on the pitch. The event also saw the launch of the latest issue of ‘On Road’ Camden Youth Magazine and members of the Healthy Living project helped to distribute the magazines to those present.

Many stalls were run by young volunteers, such the Drugs Education Stall, who was stationed by young people from FYA’s Drugs and Alcohol Peer Education Programme.

Other stalls included a Healthy Living stand run by Green Light Pharmacy and a stall run by the Bike Maintenance group, comprising of a youth worker and a group of young people from the Surma Centre who spent the day fixing local residents’ broken bicycles for free.

The Healthy Living Event was brought together by Fitzrovia Youth in Action in partnership with the West Euston Time Bank, West Euston Partnership, Green Light Pharmacy, Bengali Workers Association and the Third Age Project.  We would like to thank our partners for their active support on the day.
