Time of Your Life Dance Show
Fitzrovia Youth in Action supported a group of young women from Maria Fedelis Upper School for Girls in putting together a dance performance which was staged at Sadler’s Wells Theatre last week.
The Time of Your Life Dance Show was the final product of FYA teaming up with Maria Fidelis and London Youth. Shelly, Susana and Shannon, together with their dance tutors Ella and Elise from JumpStartMove devised and rehearsed their piece ‘Before I Fall’ over 7 weeks during one of their school PE lessons. Joelle Green, who is Assistant Media Participation Officer at FYA and also a professional dance tutor, also supported the group and has been working with the girls to create a video dairy of the dance project, which should become available for online viewing within the next few weeks.
The group had to overcome a few obstacles as the show was fast approaching and one of the dancers had to drop out because of a serious knee injury (not sustained during or because of their rehearsals). The final performance was held on Wednesday 23rd March at Lilian Baylis Studio in Sadler’s Wells. The girls performed a perfectly choreographed and delivered piece, which was part of a show that included 7 other youth groups from around London.
Well done to the girls and all other dancers for a wonderful show!!! The girls now plan to go on a residential with FYA and also want to visit a few professional shows at Sadler’s Wells over the next couple of months.
