For the second year running FYA took part in the Big Give’s Christmas Challenge 2019 raising crucial funds to support our Youth Action in The Community Project.
The Big Give Christmas Challenge is UK’s largest match funding campaign where all donations made via theBigGive.org.uk are DOUBLED!
For seven days, it offers supporters of participating charities the opportunity to have their donation doubled. Founded by entrepreneur and philanthropist Sir Alec Reed CBE, the Christmas Challenge has raised millions of pounds for thousands of charity projects since it launched on the Big Give in 2008.
As part of our campaign we had a group of 10 young people that attended weekly sessions supporting us with our campaign and helping us raise over £130 through running a raffle at their school. They did this as part of their Duke of Edinburgh award and will continue volunteering with us in the new year.
We would like to say a massive thank you to GMS Estates for providing us with the original pledge of £6000 which enabled us to participate in the campaign and to The Childhood Trust who matched our donations.
With their support and the support of our corporate partners G-Research, Dent International, Entertainment 1, DMW Group, Generation Media, Xcede,VF Corporation, Sharpe Pritchard and Basis we raised a whopping £26,695 to support our Youth Action in The Community Programme.
With these crucial funds raised young people will have the opportunity to organise a series of intergenerational events throughout the year to increase community cohesion and improve young people’s skills and experience. Events will include our Christmas Community Dinner which is on 20th December this year, Community Street Planting project (May), the Fitzrovia Summer Festival (June) & the Fitzrovia Street Party (August).
