"Young People Creating a Better Community"

Young people are more likely to turn to other young people for advice and support than approach a parent, teacher or any other professional. At FYA, we have co-produced fun and create peer support programmes where young people take the lead in offering advice and support.

Peer Education:

Create short films and run campaigns to improve awareness and understanding around issues you care about

Peer Mentoring:

Get trained in mental health and learn how to mentor other young people and deliver peer support group work

Young people’s voices are often not heard, they are rarely consulted, and seldom involved in the shaping and delivering of services.

At FYA, we support young people to draw on their expertise and lived experience to communicate their views and ideas about how improvements can be made.

Youth Action Teams:

We support young people to help decision makers and providers deliver better services or improve policy or strategies. Our Youth Action Teams organise research programmes, design training, plan mystery shopping, conduct peer reviews, create resources, run promotions and much more.

Youth Media

Each year, FYA supports young people to create dozens of short films to share their views and experiences, ranging from documentary-style programmes to animations, music videos, and promotional adverts.

Young people are often viewed as troublemakers, yet most young people care about their environment and are often most affected when it comes to issues like community safety. Our place-based social action programmes offer young people the opportunity to be the driving force around bringing the community together and making local improvements.

Community Champions:

Young residents consult the community and organise responses to issues most impacting the areas where they live such as events, environmental improvements, local campaigns and workshops.

Community Events:

Young people organise and deliver large events such as street parties, football tournaments, and community dinners, organising food, entertainment and all aspects of stewarding.
