CUC 2014

The Camden Unity Cup Festival is back again this August and we’re hoping it to be the biggest and best on record with over 450 young people expected to take part. This event is great family fun day out!

The event was launched by Fitzrovia Youth in Action in 1999 and has grown to become Camden’s largest and most well-known 5-a-side youth football tournament. The event is unique in that is it organised by young people, for young people. The Camden Unity Cup aims to give young people ownership of their football pitches and the responsibility to create safer environments for others to come into. Over a twelve week period, a steering group of young volunteers participate in event management and leadership training and receive support in planning and delivering all aspects of the programme including stewarding, organising food/ refreshments, decorations, hosting and planning a variety of games and entertainment.

The event is being organised jointly by Fitzrovia Youth in Action, Calthorpe Project, Camden Sports Development and London Youth, Coram’s Fields, King Cross Brunswick Neighborhood Association, South Camden Youth Access Point and Surma Centre.

All the age groups will be playing on one day in four age divisions (U10’s/ U12’s/ U14’s and U16’s) as well as young people hosting a full programme of entertainment on stage, additional fun activities like sports and games and other organisation showing off their work, as the theme for this year’s event is healthy living and sports.
