We run a weekly healthy living drop-in sessions at our Cumberland Youth Club on a Tuesday evening for young people aged 8-16.
Young people participate in health-related workshops and take part in sessions on drug awareness, mental health issues, sexual health, cooking, and nutrition. As part of our sport and exercise programme, young people participate in a wide variety of sports including non-contact boxing, football, and swimming.
The young people taking part gain accreditation in a wide range of subjects, from bike maintenance to healthy cooking, boxing, football, and even building your own gym.
We also participate in Cloud 9 Festival, raising awareness of healthy living choices. Everyone in the community is welcome to come along and try out our interactive health games, get involved in the football tournament, and enjoy musical and dance performances.
Cumberland Youth Club has not been running since 17 March 2020 in response to COVID 19. We are planning how and when to reopen!
We have been checking in with our CYC Families approximately every 2 weeks since the COVID 19 Outbreak. It has been more difficult to see members of CYC as many are too young to use apps like Zoom or whatsapp to communicate themselves, so we have been working with parents – AND we created a Summer Activity Pack with lots of healthy living tips and challenges, fun activities and recipes, alongside a small gift bag.
