Community Christmas Dinner 2022!

Our annual winter event took place on the 19th December, back at Indian YMCA after the pandemic prevented us from running this event indoors for a couple of years. Guests were entertained by brilliant talented performances, a crowd favourite – BINGO, craft activities and ways to connect with fellow guests as well as a delicious roast dinner shared. 

At the beginning of the event, only 33% of attendees reported their sense of community belonging as 8 or more out of 10. After the event 71% of guests reported their sense of community belonging as 8 or more out of 10 and there was a 74% increase in sense of community belonging overall. 100% of guests rated the event good or brilliant, with 67% rating brilliant.

The event was brilliant – meeting people, spending time with my friends, the entertainment, the meal, the craft activity and of course bingo!

The whole occasion was totally enjoyable. The singing was really good, the food was perfect and friendly volunteers

The event was organised by a group of young people, working together since October to bring the event to life and they were joined by 30 young people as stewards and performers. They have all achieved brilliantly, developing lots of skills and acheived AQA certificates in event management, customer service and leadership. Many of the group have applied to be Ambassadors too, and will now be steering our organisation for the next year. We are very proud of them and how they considered each other’s needs and provided high levels of peer support.
