Youth Participation Officer Peer Education (Internship)
Fitzrovia Youth in Action is looking for a passionate and enthusiastic young person for our Youth Participation Officer Peer Education (Internship) role. If you feel like this is you, we would love to hear from you!
This post is funded and supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation internship programme, which is designed to help young people start their career in the youth sector while also enabling the host charity to create more opportunities and reach more young people. A part of this Jack Petchey internship programme the post holder will be required to take part fully in the programme, which includes support from external mentors, attending events and engaging in the review sessions. You can find more information here: Internships | Jack Petchey Foundation
The post holder will manage and develop youth-led projects in which young people develop a variety of skills and knowledge through active involvement in self-directed social action work. The successful candidate will oversee the development and delivery of several youth-led projects, primarily the organisation of peer education media programmes but might also include elements of other youth-led activities, such as community events, youth action teams, and peer mentoring.
Typically, this would involve working with groups of around 10 young people in each cohort and support them to deliver their youth social action project over a 12-week period.
The post holder may also support drop-in sessions and other activities aimed at engaging young people and referring them onto the youth-led social action programmes.
This is an exciting time for FYA as we have always aimed to have an internship role for a young person, as a steppingstone for their career in the youth sector. This role also offers an opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of other young people.
