Fitzrovia Youth in Action, Mind in Camden and the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust have been developing the model for the new peer mentoring project in consultation with young people in the borough. In the new year we will be inviting local schools and youth organisations to join our programme aimed at promoting peer support, problem solving skills and building resilience in young people.
Our training will be led by Mind in Camden and has been designed to equip peer mentors with skills, knowledge and resources that will help them to support their mentees. It includes fun activities based around the 5 Ways to Wellbeing model and Resilience Framework that participants will explore and identify tools that can help to support their mental health.  The sessions will combine whole group work and pair work where young people will set goals together and share learning.
The programme will be AQA accredited and consist of 6 mentoring sessions in schools or youth clubs led by our project team and delivered flexibly to meet the needs of each organisation.
If you would like to find out more about participating in this programme please contact Abbie Mitchell abbie.mitchell@fya.org.uk  07857 472 484.
