This year’s Camden Unity Cup Festival was undoubtedly our best yet. Nearly 500 players, aged 8 – 16, went head-to-head in the football tournament at Coram’s Fields on Wednesday 14th August, hoping to win one of the coveted FYA trophies and Nike football boots. Others couldn’t tear themselves away from the rodeo bull, sumo wrestling, and rowing simulation. There was something for everyone with facepainting and festival games for younger children, whilst parents relaxed in front of the stage or took advantage of the free henna painting.
A steering group of 15 young volunteers took part in event management training and planned the event, co-ordinating stewarding, refreshments, decorations, games, and entertainment. Over 50 young people acted as stewards on the day to ensure every guest enjoyed all the festival had to offer.
Organised jointly by Fitzrovia Youth in Action, Coram’s Fields, South Camden Youth Access Point, Camden and Regents Park Youth League, and London Youth, the Camden Unity Cup has become the largest youth festival in Camden and a summer highlight for many local families.
