On Saturday 2nd September, Fitzrovia Youth in Action hosted the 20th Fitzrovia Street Party and Community Dinner. The event was organised by a steering group of young people, who met weekly for three months to plan the event. They planned everything including the publicity, activities, food and stage schedule.
There was a packed stage schedule, with a range of performances, including dancers, singers and even a magician! Highlights of the day included great dances from BWA’s Mix It dance group and rapping from FYA member Courtney. Loic, a young magician, made his street party debut with a spellbinding performance with card tricks and even acrobatics to leave the audience guessing how he did it!
Elsewhere in the event, guests enjoyed inflatable activities on the pitch, arts and crafts and face painting. Young people led a smoothie bike stall, where guests could cycle power their own healthy fruit smoothies. Dinner was provided by local restaurant Agra and served by young stewards who did well in catering to hundreds of guests.
